Taster Courses: April 30th – June 20th
A taster course for residents of Kirkby Lonsdale and the LA6 postal district saw Green Close leading a programme of online and in-person arts workshops delivered by 4 artists.

Arts & Nature Course
Brockholes Nature Reserve, Preston
Wednesdays 2 – 4pm: August 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th

The course will take you on a creative journey in the beautiful setting of the Brockholes Nature Reserve, Preston. Our inspiration will be the natural environment, uncovering an awareness of the impact that nature has on our wellbeing especially when we focus on it by making art within it.

We will use a wide range of materials including pencils, charcoal, inks and found objects.  You will create your own portfolio of artwork and learn ways to maintain your wellbeing whilst exploring your area and responding creatively to it.

Nature to Nurture Courses
Wednesdays at Brockholes, Preston
10:30am – 12:30pm: Wednesdays August 4th, 11th & 25th

Embrace Wellbeing by interacting with the Natural World. Activities will include: invasive species removal, habitat creation, wildflower ID walks and fire lighting.- All sessions will be held outside.

Travel expenses will be paid.

You don’t need to be particularly fit to take part, just happy to be outside for the afternoon and take part in some practical activity and no previous skills or experience necessary.

Yoga for Anxiety: At Mandala Preston city centre
7:30 -8:30pm: Wednesdays August 11th, 18th, 25th & September 1st


A beginner-friendly course ideal for anyone with anxiety. A gentle and welcoming course introducing you to yoga postures and breathing techniques to help you to manage anxiety.

You will learn yoga movements that are beginner-friendly, relaxing breathing techniques, stress and anxiety coping techniques and guided meditation relaxations.

Groove Fitness: At Mandala, Preston city centre
Tuesdays 6-7pm: August 10th, 17th, 24th & 31st

A fitness class with a difference, designed to boost mood and confidence and reduce stress and anxiety. This beginners dance fitness is a bit like dancing around the living room with your friends. Our music includes pop, soul, latin, jazz and more.

Zero complicated choreography, I show you simple, great fun movements. There’s no right or left, no trying to copy an instructor, just moving to great music.

Lots of laughter while building fitness, strength and flexibility and releasing tension and tightness.

Walk, Talk & Draw: Morecambe

8th August 1pm – 2:30pm: Meet at Morecambe Yacht Club

Join experienced walk leader Joe Duffield and artist Sue Flowers who will take you on a creative journey in the Morecambe Promenade. We will be outdoors (don’t worry there is always some shelter somewhere) so please come prepared! All materials will be provided. 

We will use lightweight portable materials including pencils, charcoal, and found objects. 

By the end of the course you will have your own sketchbook, have taken healthy exercise and learnt ways to maintain wellbeing whilst exploring this beautiful environment and responding creatively to it.

No booking required, simply meet at the meeting point for 1pm.

Beach Clean & Create: Morecambe

17th August 1pm – 2:30pm Meet at The Battery Cafe, Morecambe Promenade

Join walk leader Joe Duffield and artist Sue Flowers who will invite you to love your environment, make some art and help to clean up Morecambe Beach. Our inspiration will be the environment, uncovering the impact that nature has on wellbeing especially when we focus on it.

Ladies Only Yoga: Preston

ProjectFit, London Road, Preston
Tuesdays 10:30 -11:30 from August 3rd – October 10th

A ladies only beginner’s yoga class. This is a very gentle and welcoming class. You will learn yoga postures, relaxing breathing techniques, stress and anxiety coping techniques and guided meditation relaxations.

This course will help you to manage daily stresses and anxieties and improve flexibility, balance, strength and respiratory health.

You are welcome to attend as many of these sessions as you are able.

Autumn Courses

During the autumn our ‘Gather-in’ programme will help people explore their personal strengths and creatively harvest their unique individuality in preparation for the shorter days and longer nights ahead.


Winter Courses: December 4th

Our winter term ‘Quiet Growth’ will explore restoration and resilience. We will work together to understand more about how we can use our resting energies to bring strength and renewal to our lives. The challenges of winter means we need to take extra care of ourselves at this time so that during the spring we can emerge growing from the darkness.

Art

Delivered by Green Close in collaboration with a team of artists. The work will be about positive communication – we want to make our work as accessible and relevant to our participants as possible.

Making art can be a valuable tool in developing self- understanding. We hope this will be a safe, supportive space for people to come together to be creative whilst learning how art can help us understand ourselves, express our emotions and support our wellbeing; visual art has so much to give!’

Movement

Delivered by Mandala Preston, a series of Groove and Yoga classes and events to help release physical and mental tension and to increase flexibility, strength and balance.

Yoga helps us to breathe, hold our posture and think in ways that helps us to feel calm. In this gentle course you will learn about the science of stress and anxiety and will learn beginner-friendly yoga movements, relaxing breathing techniques, stress and anxiety coping techniques and meditation techniques that help us to feel relaxed and calm.

Groove it feels so good to dance freely, knowing you can’t it wrong and that your way is the right way. That’s what this course is about. A great fun, stress-relieving, sociable dance class with a difference. There’s no complicated choreography, I show you simple movements that we build on – you literally can’t get it wrong, if it feel right – it is right and we get to be silly!

We will be united in rhythm with space for heart-lifting, joyful self-expression. We will dance to popular hits, slow meditative grooves and heart thumping, strength building rhythms.

Nature

Delivered by Lancashire Wildlife Trust and Gathering Fields. Enjoy new sessions every week, lead by one of our trained members of staff. These sessions can help you to take steps to improve your health and wellbeing, meet new people, learn more about nature and the outdoors and enhance your CV. 

The outdoor sessions are a great way to enjoy getting back outside in a safe and relaxed environment. Meet in small groups once a week at one of our COVID-secure locations to enjoy a range of activities aimed at supporting wildlife and helping you to feel happier and healthier.
