Green Close is an artist-led organisation located in the village of Melling in rural North Lancashire.

We are based in a beautifully transformed agricultural barn, set within the stunning Lune Valley, with a studio base that provides 122sq metres of bespoke creative learning space.

We care deeply about the environment and the small communities that contribute to the identity of this unique location and have run numerous environmental improvement projects across the region.

Since 1996, Green Close has been developing an understanding of how art can make a real impact on people’s lives by developing and delivering innovative creative engagement programmes for communities – often isolated, from both rural and urban settings.

Alongside these programmes, Green Close has also developed leading international work under the creative guidance and professional leadership of artists and directors Pete and Sue Flowers.

“Art can be a powerful advocacy tool for the ignored, the forgotten, the stigmatised and the marginalised… we use art to make a difference” Sue Flowers
