Directors of Green Close, Sue and Pete Flowers work in partnership with the national charity Rethink Mental Illness; a leading charity provider of mental health services in England, that supports people living with mental illness and those who care for them.

Rethink Phoenix North Lancashire Group started in April 2020, aiming to provide help to friends and family members who support their loved ones with mental health conditions. It is open to anyone in such a caring situation and normally meets every third Wednesday of the month from 7pm-8.30pm, either online or in person.

Both Sue and Pete have personal experience of supporting relatives with bipolar disorder, and over the past few years, Sue has been using her lived experience to help others on the online platform REACT, the Relatives Education And Coping Toolkit, a study led by The Spectrum Centre for Mental Health Research at Lancaster University.

The name Phoenix was chosen as a powerful symbol of strength and renewal and one of its known powers is empathy. They believe that every individual is uniquely remarkable and hope that their monthly sessions provide a safe, supportive space for people to come together and share their knowledge and experience.
