Green Close are delighted to announce a new programme of work which will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the designation of the Forest of Bowland as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (A.O.N.B.) involving a range of opportunities for artists to showcase their own.
The arts and crafts within and around the Forest of Bowland are as unique, diverse and beautiful as the wildlife, landscape, habitats and eco-systems, which the A.O.N.B. represents and cares for. The 50th Anniversary of Bowland programme provides a unique opportunity to showcase quality, professional artistic talent found within this stunning landscape, presenting it across Lancashire and the North West.
Our creative programme entitled ‘Fifty Years in the Making’ will explore the wealth of creative talent existing within the area, whilst also identifying connections that creative practitioners can make through discovering the history of the A.O.N.B. since its establishment in 1964.
The project will look back over the last five decades and look forward identifying our aspirations for Bowland.
All our programme will look at the unique theme of making – making great art, making great food & making and conserving a unique landscape.
We are looking for artists to support the project in a number of ways:-
- To submit artworks for a series of curated exhibitions showcasing high quality artwork found within and inspired by Bowland
- To provide an ‘Edible Masterpiece’ that can be showcased alongside their artwork
- To work with local schools and pupils on a specific decade that links to the 50th Anniversary
These opportunities are highlighted on the website, so please look for further information.
Bowland Revealed, 50 Years in the Making is funded by Lancashire County Council, The Forest of Bowland A.O.N.B. and Ribble Valley Borough Council.
